Dr. Brian Hon-yin CHUNG

Dr Brian Chung is currently Clinical Associate Professor of The University of Hong Kong. 

Dr Chung was initially trained at The University of Hong Kong (HKU) (2000-2006) and subsequently at the University of Toronto, The Hospital for Sick Children (2007-2010), specialising in Paediatrics and Clinical Genetics.  He obtained his fellowship of the Canadian College of Medical Geneticists, and later became a founding fellow of the subspecialty of Genetics & Genomics (Paediatrics) of Hong Kong Academy of Medicine (HKAM).

To further his career in genomics, he completed his Master of Science degree in Genomics and Bioinformatics at The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2013 and obtained a Doctor of Medicine degree from HKU in 2018 with the Sir Patrick Manson Gold Medal.

For his achievements in research, he was honoured to have received the Best Young Investigator Prize of the Hong Kong College of Paediatricians in 2017.  In recognition of his excellence in teaching, Dr Chung received a 2018 Faculty Teaching Medal and a 2019 Outstanding Teaching Award from HKU.  He was also actively involved in the drafting of the postgraduate curriculum of the subspecialty of Genetics & Genomics (Paediatrics) of HKAM in 2017.

He is currently the President-Elect of the Asia Pacific Society of Human Genetics.  His other responsibilities include having served on the Working Group of the Hong Kong Hospital Authority Strategic Service Framework for Genetic and Genomic Services.
